As with most casino games, Baccarat has its fair share of unique terminology - Here is a glossary of the main terms to that you can easily understand the jargon or slang in the game. Many of the terms are French.
Baccarat - The worst hand, a score of 0.
Banker/Player Bet - Betting on the dealer or the player.
Baccarat en Banque - A Baccarat version with 2 player positions and the house as bank.
"Banco!" - Same as "All in"! in poker. To bet all your remaining chips.
Carte - Ask for a card from the dealer.
Coup - A round of Baccarat.
Croupier - The dealer.
Chemin-de-fer - A European Baccarat type where one player bankrolls the game, deals all the cards, and takes all the bets. Not easy to fing in online baccarat.
House Edge - The casinos' advantage. baccarat offers some of the lowest house edges to be found at the casino.
Ladderman - The man or woman employed by the that runs the Baccarat table.
Le Grande - The best hand in Baccarat, a 9.
Loss bet/Fade - A bet against the bank.
Mini-baccarat - A type of Baccarat in which a smaller tableis used, with one dealer, instead of two dealers and a caller.
Muck - 8 card decks. generally baccarat is played with a Muck.
Natural - A score of 8 or 9.
Petite - A total of 8. The 2nd best baccarat hand.
Railroad - Same as Chemin de Fer.
Shooter - US nickname for the bank.
Standoff - A tie.
Super Pan Nine - A type of Baccarat.
Tie Bet - To bet on a tie between the player and the dealer.
