How to Play BaccaratBaccarat is one of the most popular games in casinos everywhere and things are no different online. It´s a simple game, but offers on e of the lowest house edges in the casino and consequently is popular with high stakes players. However, you don´t need to be a high stakes players to enjoy this game. You may find it difficult to break into a high roller game in las Vegas or Macau, but if you are playing online baccarat, it´s simple to play.
The deal moves around the table, (a bit like the shooter in craps). You can pass the shoe to the next player if you do not wish to deal and the deal stays with the same peson for as long as the banker continues winning.
The dealer will place 2 face down cards under the shoe, and give the player with the greatest bet on the player bet an additional two face down cards.
This player looks at the cards and returns them to the dealer. The dealer then flips over the cards and the card totals are announced.
The dealer the may or may not deal a third card. Winning bets are settled and losers chips are collected. The dealer (which rotates) is not a banker in any way- he or she merely physically deals the cards.
In Mini Baccarat, to speed up play, the dealer turns over all the cards. This is the variant used in most onlin casinos. the odds are the same.
Baccarat is normally played with 6 decks of cards. Sometimes Mini Baccarat is played with 6 deckes, and you can get versions playing with different numbers of decks all the way down to 1 deck, so always check the house rules, as this will affect your probabilities.
The scoring of the cards is als follows:
Cards are given point values as follows:
10 and face cards=0.
Play starts by all players making a "player bet", "banker bet", or a tie bet.
After all bets have been made, the dealer gives 2 cards each to the player and the banker. The scores in Baccarat always go from 0 to 9 (see above). You cannot go bust, as in blackjack.
A third card may be dealt to either the player or the dealer depending on the following.
If either the player or the banker has an 8 or a 9 (natural) they both stand.
If the player's total is 5 or less, then the player gets another card.
Once the player stands, the banker hits on a total of 5 or less. If the player gets one more card, then the banker is dealt another card based on the following rules:
7: Always stands
6: If player´s 3rd card is 6,7 hits, else stands
5: If player´s 3rd card is 4,5,6,7 hits, else stands
4: If player´s 3rd card is 2,3,4,5,6,7 hits, else stands
3: If player´s 3rd card is 0,1,2,4,5,6,7,9 hits, else stands
2: Always hits
1: Always hits
0: Always hits
The scores are then compared; the winner is the one that has a higher score. Banker bets pay 19 to 20 (i.e. even money less a 5% commission), player bets pay even money, tie bets pay 8 to 1. In the of the same score, banker and player bets will push.
